When I started this summer semester, I thought this class was going to be a piece of cake. I just did Comp I in spring, so this class isn’t going to be hard. Boy was I wrong, I have learned so much these last five weeks. That my head might explode with the knowledge. Now I can I have learned academic research skills such as the difference between the American Psychological Association vs Modern Language Association. So now I can successfully say what the American Psychological Association (APA) vs Modern Language Association (MLA) is and also remember not to use I, me, and my in a college-level essay, which I have a bad habit of doing.
There are so many social epidemics in our day and age that it became hard for me to choose a topic. The social epidemic that I chose was Narcissism also known as narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) (Godreau, 2024)., Then the character I chose was Alfred Hitchcock. Also learning about Alfred Hitchcock as my analysis character was very interesting, to say the least. He was a very narcissistic man and loved to stalk, become obsessed, and traumatize women who worked for him. When researching for my paper, I began to get an immense amount of knowledge about the social epidemic that I decided to write about, which is Narcissism.
Narcissism, also known as narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a mental health condition that sometimes cannot be stopped. A lot of this disorder stems from childhood trauma or the way they were raised by their parents as children, so it can be inherited through actions but not necessarily DNA. There is no medication for this mental condition, but there are several solutions to help a person deal with their narcissistic personality that they can use daily to help them break the way they think or treat others (Godreau, 2024). There are also a lot of solutions that the person on the receiving end of a narcissist can do, to correct their behavior.
This essay has by far been very challenging to complete and do while staying on task So, I learned a great deal in a short amount of time in my summer five-week Comp II course. From my professor, endless articles and books online, and from my personal experiences.
